Planning result
Cost per pound includes only the costs entered here. It is not total production cost, and the calculator never predicts yield.
Why it matters
Lower wattage alone does not prove a retrofit saves money. Fixture count, schedule, utility charges, environmental costs, maintenance, project cost, and actual dry production all affect the result.
How to use it
- Enter fixture count and actual wall watts for both systems, plus the real annual lighting schedule.
- Enter energy rate, demand charge, installed cost, and confirmed rebate.
- Open the annual cost section and enter each system’s HVAC/dehumidification cost, maintenance cost, and actual dry output.
- Use the photon section only when tested PPF or measured canopy PPFD and area are available.
Cannabis best practices
- Compare delivered light and uniformity, not watts alone.
- Use measured production history or a controlled trial; do not type in a promised yield increase as if it were proven.
- Keep fixture PPF separate from photons measured at the canopy. They are not the same number.
Limits and sources
Cost per pound includes only the costs entered here, not total production cost. Payback excludes financing, taxes, depreciation, downtime, and unverified yield claims. Yield is never predicted.
